SUBJECT: BEATLES FILE NUMBER: 94-2653 DATE: August 19, 1964 IMAGE ABSTRACT: FBI agent at the Denver field office files a report, based on information received from the Denver police, that a post card was received by a rock 'n' roll promoter, Vern Byers, stating that a hand grenade would be thrown at the Beatles while they performed at their scheduled show, on August 26, 1964, at the Red Rocks Ampitheater, in Jefferson County, Colorado, if the show was not cancelled. The FBI agent does not classify the incident as a murder threat; instead he classifies it as "extortion." The image below is the first page of a two-page report.
