Profile of Washington, DC Sniper similar to FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi

Who is the Washington, DC sniper? Whoever he is and whatever his motive, there is no question that this anonymous person(s) on a shooting spree in Washington, DC suburbs is someone of top-notch FBI sniper caliber. The phantom shooter can hit moving targets from hundreds of feet away. And he has no problems murdering women and children. This description fits the profile of FBI agent Lon Horiuchi, the sniper who shot and killed Vicki Weaver (wife of Randy Weaver) from 200 yards while she held her infant daughter in her arms on August 22, 1992 during the siege at Ruby Ridge, Idaho.

Horiuchi is of Japanese heritage and was raised in Hawaii.

Of course Horiuchi is but one of many top-notch hit men employed by the FBI. The "phantom" Washington, DC sniper might in fact be a small army of Horiuchi zombies.

Who Benefits from the Washington Sniper Murders?

Does Sadam Hussein benefit?

Hardly. The Horiuchi-style murders are whipping Americans into war fever against Iraq. Unless Hussein is an idiot, he would not want to launch such an attack against American citizens, most of whom oppose an American invasion on Iraq. For Hussein to sponsor such an assault would only play into his enemies hands.

Does Osama Bin Laden benefit?

Unless Bin Laden’s new goal is to goad America into a war with Iraq, then I doubt that he would benefit from the Horiuchi-style murders either.

Does Yasser Arafat benefit?

Not on your life. The Horiuchi-style murders only feed the War on Terrorism rhetoric which is a euphemism for War on Islam. This does not benefit Arafat’s Palestinian cause at all.

Does Israel benefit?

You bet! Israel is behind the looming war against Iraq, and President Bush apparently does not have the guts, or the intellect, to stand up to Israel or its supporters in America. The Horiuchi-style murders only intensify the American public’s collective feeling that terrorism has come to the nation’s capital again in the wake of 9-11. The Horiuchi-style murders are a "win-win" scenario for the Bush/Israeli regime in Washington. It supports the argument that we must fight terrorism by any means necessary, including attacking Iraq.

What can we do?

The United States Government has driven regimes from power in other governments and has dealt with guerrilla warfare similar to the recent Horiuchi-style sniper murders in Washington, DC. Our intelligence forces often fight this sort of warfare by launching counter-assaults against commanding officers for the opposing army. For example, if a sniper shoots at a CIA worker in a foreign country, the CIA sometimes responds by setting off grenades in the front lawns of commanding officers of the opposing army.

This was precisely the approach used during the Eisenhower Administration when the CIA drove Vietnamese prime minister Bay Vien from power in the mid-1950s. Bay Vien was a common thief, a puppet for the French government who openly used Bay Vien to smuggle opium. Working under the auspices of the Eisenhower Administration, then Colonel Edward Lansdale personally deposed Bay Vien, took control of Saigon, and drove the French-Corsican drug dealers and French intelligence from Vietnam. Bay Vien was replaced by Prime Minister/President Ngo Dinh Diem.

In retaliation, the Corsicans launched a vendetta against the entire American community in Vietnam. Lansdale responded by going directly to the source. Whenever an American was killed, or when an attempt was made on Landsdale’s life, Lansdale would launch grenades in front of the houses of the French officers he felt were responsible.

Lansdale’s strategy was to focus on the ones giving the orders, not to chase down snipers. This proved to be an effective and successful strategy in that situation.

Postscript

Sixty Minutes pushes propaganda piece about DC Sniper

October 13, 2002—CBS News Sixty Minutes aired a piece entitled, "Armed and Dangerous," a psychops story framed around the DC Sniper, but did not discuss the shootings directly. Instead, the piece (conducted and narrated by Steve Kroft) suggested that the shooter was mentally ill. The Armed and Dangerous story was built around that premise, which is likely false. Utlimately, the piece introduced another topic: Should mentally ill people be allowed to purchase firearms?

That is a reasonable topic, but it was cynically introduced by Sixty Minutes to support the obvious cover story that the DC sniper is a "deranged shooter" rather than a highly skilled FBI marksman like Lon Horiuchi.

Shooting in Northern Virginia

Oct. 14, 2002—A woman was fatally shot tonight outside a Home Depot store in Fairfax County in an attack that appeared similar to those carried out by a sniper who has been linked by police to eight killings in the Washington region since Oct. 2.

The Falls Church area shooting occurred about 9:15 p.m. at the Seven Corners Shopping Center, which is bounded by major Northern Virginia traffic arteries, and it prompted police to set up checkpoints on principal roads for miles around. Traffic was jammed on many highways.

At about 11:25 p.m, Fairfax County Police Chief J. Thomas Manger gave an impromptu news conference at the shopping center. He refused to answer reporters’ questions about the description of a person reportedly seen driving a cream colored Chevy Astro Van from the crime scene.

Several reporters asked Manger to confirm reports that the person driving the van had an "almond complexion."* Manger refused to comment.

An unidentified male eye witness described the shooting to WRC-TV Channel 4 News reporter Pat Collins shortly after the shooting:

Observation

The eye witness indicated that a "few seconds" after the shot was fired, he heard "cops and the sirens and the choppers."

That’s incredibly fast response time. How could the witness hear cops and sirens and choppers in just seconds? Wouldn’t it take minutes, not seconds, for the authorities to respond? Possibly this was a slip of the tongue by the witness, but maybe not. ª

Only a fool would believe the DC Sniper is a crazed individual seeking attention. None of the facts point to such a theory. The recent sniper shootings are the work of a professional killer.

Let’s look at his latest victim: Linda Gail Franklin, a 47-year-old analyst at FBI headquarters in Washington, DC, shot dead in the parking lot of Seven Corners mall, in Arlington, Virginia, in front of a Home Depot store.

Franklin was a cancer survivor and was recovering from a double mastectomy.(1)

Franklin worked at the FBI as an intelligence operations specialist in the National Infrastructure Protection Center at bureau headquarters. She had only worked for the FBI for 3 1/12 years. Before that, she taught in Department of Defense schools in Japan and Belgium in the 1990s after earning a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Florida's College of Education when she was 31.(2)

Could Franklin be a random victim, or is there more to this story than we’re being told?

Franklin was quite possibly silenced by the FBI to prevent her from revealing criminal activity regarding the FBI’s participation in the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Franklin's employer, the National Infrastructure Protection Center at the FBI, is the bureau’s hi-tech leg for [its domestic terrorism group.*] The Center’s website describes its mission as follows:

Since Franklin had only worked for the FBI for 3 1/2 years, she probably had not yet become totally absorbed in the FBI’s intelligence cult, but was likely aware of several unethical and criminal activities.

Add to that her serious medical condition.

Because of her recent battle with cancer, Franklin may have wanted to reveal information she knew about the sniper shootings and possibly about 9-11. When one is about to meet one’s maker, it is normal to want to set things right as much as possible before leaving this world.

Franklin’s execution was likely planned in advance so the police could respond instantly, block traffic unnecessarily, thereby creating a sense of terror in the public’s collective mind. And why frighten the public in such a manner? To prepare them for war with Iraq as part of the ongoing War on Terrorism.

This scenario explains why it only took about a minute to get police and choppers to the crime scene.(4)

Trying to escape the shooting scene by automobile is a remote and ridiculous possibility. Anyone familiar with Seven Corners knows this is absurd.

A decoy individual (someone who looks like a criminal) was likely sent to the crime scene to throw the public off.

The story about a white or cream-colored van was either a fictitious cover story or the van was used as a decoy by a conspirator other than the shooter.

The real killer probably murdered his target, placed his rifle in a convenient hiding place and casually walked away. He may have even walked into the crowd of panicked people at Seven Corners mall. Or he may have walked to a nearby apartment or house of an accomplice. Who knows? Maybe he hopped on one of the FBI choppers with his weapon, and got a quick ride home. If the killer was someone like FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi, this certainly could have been the scenario.

Why did the police stop traffic? They created a huge backup on Interstate 66 and Route 50. This was completely unnecessary. The police claimed to be looking for the white/cream-colored van driven by the killer. If the police truly thought the murderer was traveling in such a vehicle, why didn’t they broadcast a description of the van on all the local TV/radio news stations and ask people to call in license plates of similar looking vehicles? This would have been a more efficient method of tracking down the vehicle than creating a colossal traffic jam.

Why would a genuine sniper attempt to flee the murder scene by automobile in a highly congested area like Seven Corners, Virginia? If he in fact made such an attempt, how could he possibly escape? If he did in fact escape the way we’re told, why would he put himself in such a risky situation?

The more questions one asks, the less sense the whole story makes.

I do not claim to have all the answers, but the public needs to be aware of just how corrupt the United States government has become. It’s not safe for citizens to believe our elected officials are looking out for our welfare when they are obviously killing us right and left in the pursuit of war, money, [maintaining a Jewish homeland for the descendants of Khazars of Eastern Europe], and other hidden agendas.

Man charged with giving false sniper info

ROCKVILLE, Maryland (CNN) -- The person who claimed to have seen a man with a gun just before the latest Washington area sniper shooting has been arrested and charged with giving false information, authorities said.

The would-be witness was identified as Matthew M. Dowdy, 37, of Falls Church, Virginia, according to Fairfax County Police Officer Sophia Grinnan. He is an ex-convict and goes by the nickname "Slim," she said.

Dowdy originally was thought to be a key witness in the shooting of 47-year-old Linda Franklin outside the Home Depot store in Falls Church Monday.

He's been charged with one count of knowingly and willfully making a false statement to an officer who was in the course of investigating a crime by another, a Class 2 misdemeanor, Grinnan said.

Dowdy is in police custody and faces up to six months in prison if he's convicted on that charge.

Montgomery County, Maryland, Executive Doug Duncan -- whose county police department is spearheading the multi-jurisdictional sniper task force because the killings began there -- said he was pleased with the arrest.

"This is a serious matter, lives are at stake. We cannot have people misleading police and wasting our time," he said.

Nine people have been killed and two others wounded since October 2 in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

After Monday's shooting, Dowdy told police he saw the gunman shoulder a weapon just before the shooting and then saw the shooter flee in a cream-colored van with the left taillight burned out.

That description was broadcast to law enforcement across the region and led to the shutdown of most major thoroughfares around the nation's capital as authorities searched for the van. After questioning Dowdy further, they determined the van did not exist.

Authorities in the past two days were optimistic that Dowdy's information would help crack the case because there have been few witnesses to the previous sniper shootings.

With Monday's key witness discredited, authorities said the following details reported on the Home Depot shooting are no longer valid:

• That the sniper was only 30 yards away when the shot was fired

• That the sniper is a male with olive skin color

• That a cream-colored van was used in the escape

• That the sniper used an AK-74 rifle, stepped out of a van, put the gun to his shoulder and then fired

On Thursday and Friday police were back at the parking garage searching for new clues.

Sources said other people at the crime scene provided partial license plate numbers and those are still being evaluated.

The Montgomery County Police Department is still relying on composite images of a white Ford Econoline van and white Chevrolet Astro, both with ladder racks. The vehicles were spotted at the scene of an October 11 sniper shooting in Fredericksburg, Virginia, in which a man was killed. The department also released composite images last week of a white box truck spotted at other scenes.

With the sniper investigation now in its third week, the only "common denominator" in all reports is that the shooter is a male. (What is known about the sniper)

The police official spearheading the probe remained stalwartly hopeful that authorities will catch the killer and repeated a plea to residents to step forward if they think they have information.

"I remain very optimistic," said Montgomery Police Chief Charles Moose, citing the talent, skill and energy of the investigators and tips and support from the community. Moose addressed reporters at Friday's sniper task force daily news conference in Rockville, Maryland. (Tips for tipsters)

Moose said he continues to field questions about a September 14 shooting in Silver Spring, Maryland, that police have investigated. He said that so far evidence in the case is inconclusive as to its connection to the other shootings.

FBI agents have been questioning an al Qaeda suspect being held in Belgium who bragged to his interrogators that he had witnessed al Qaeda training for snipers, European intelligence sources said Friday. The FBI refused to confirm or deny it had sent agents to Brussels.

Federal investigators plan to question suspected al Qaeda detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and elsewhere to see if any of them have any information about the sniper attacks in the Washington area, even though officials say there has been no indication of a link between organized terror and the shootings. Are political dissidents under attack?

Is the United States government silencing people they believe are threats?

Yesterday I wrote about the possible "execution" of DC Sniper victim Linda Gail Franklin, an FBI analyst who worked at the National Infrastructure Protection Center (aka, domestic terrorism). Franklin, 47, was shot and killed at a Home Depot in Falls Church, Virginia on October 14, 2002.

Today I did some research on another shooting victim, Kenneth Bridges, of Philadelphia, who was gunned down at a gas station near Fredericksburg, Virginia on October 11, 2002.

Bridges, 53, was African-American and was apparently an admirer of Louis Farrakhan, head of the Nation of Islam.

Bridges was a political activist and founder, president and chairman of the board of Matah, an organization established to empower black business people. (1) Matah’s website reveals that one of the events which inspired its creation was Louis Farrakhan’s Million Man March on Washington, DC (1995). The following text is from Matah’s website:

Kenneth Bridges and Linda Franklin did not appear to be typical American citizens. Bridges was a political activist, an apparent admirer of Louis Farrakhan. Franklin was a cancer patient, possibly preparing to meet her maker by atoning for any sins she may have committed or known about while working for the FBI’s domestic terrorism division. Bridges and Franklin both had strong potentials for being declared enemies of the state. ª

The White Minivan

There seems to be a great deal of media hype about white minivans and white box trucks, but there never seems to be any substance behind such stories.

Last Saturday night, police were stopping white minivans and white box trucks on the Washington, DC beltway and near the Ponderosa steakhouse in Ashland, Virginia where the DC Sniper’s latest victim was shot and wounded.

Eye-witness Matthew M. Dowdy was charged with providing false information to the police after he gave a slightly different description of the getaway vehicle used at the shooting of Linda Gail Franklin at a Home Depot in Northern Virginia on October 14th. Dowdy said it was a "cream colored" van, not a white van. Apparently, if anyone strays too far from the official cover story, the authorities throw the book at them.

What message does Dowdy’s persecution/prosecution send to the public?

Do you suppose it encourages crime scene witnesses to tell the police what they saw?

Speaking of Linda Franklin, has anyone noticed how silent her family has been about her death? She had a husband and two adult children. Why have they made no public statements?

Their silence supports my hypothesis that Franklin was bumped off by the FBI because of loose lips regarding governmental complicity in 9-11.

As I stated before, I believe the killer is a professional sniper who either works for the FBI, the military, or both.

The entire sniper episode is obviously an effort to create mass hysteria as a means of garnering public support for the war against Islam (aka, The War against Terrorism) which presently manifests itself in the looming war against Iraq.

What better way to frighten the public than to claim the sniper drives a white colored van or white box truck? That describes the vehicle used by most blue-collar laborers. White vans and white box trucks are regularly driven to the homes of everyday Americans by plumbers, electricians, carpet layers, roofers, chimney sweeps, and so on. The media’s constant reminder of a white van/box truck increases the public’s collective paranoia and weakens its resolve to resist a war mongering government intent on reeking havoc on the Islamic world in order protect Palestine for "God’s Chosen People."

WAKE UP AMERICA!

Our people are being slaughtered by an illegitimate government in Washington, DC!!!

The Second Amendment to the US Constitution states the following: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

US military plans to fake a chemical attack on US populace – DC Sniper arrests may be intelligence operation

It looks as though criminal elements within the US military and Executive branch are preparing to launch a chemical attack against the American public, and blame it on Muslims, in an effort to garner support for America’s ensuing attack on Iraq.

The recent arrests of DC sniper suspects was as mysterious and illogical as the shooting spree that put residents of Washington, DC and surrounding areas in a state of hysteria as a handful of unelected government officials and military leaders prepare for an Iraqi war.

Two black men--identified as John Allen Muhammad, 41, once known as John Allen Williams, and Lee Malvo, 17--were arrested at a Maryland rest stop on October 24, 2002.

Little about the arrests of the sniper suspects makes sense.

On October 24, 2002, the Montgomery County police called a press conference to officially announce the arrests, but it was mostly ceremonial. Virtually no information was released and no questions were answered, although reporters asked.

The first question asked by a reporter to Montgomery County Chief of Police Charles Moose inquired about the motive behind the shootings. Moose bristled that he was not going to release that sort of sensitive information. About two more questions were asked, but Moose continued to stonewall, then abruptly ended the press conference.

One wonders, why did the police call it a press conference?

The term "press conference" means the press asks questions and answers are supplied. This was not the case at all.

The only solid information Moose gave was to say that the two suspects were charged with an unrelated weapons violation and had not been charged with anything related to the recent shootings. Yet he claimed ballistics tests indicated that bullets found in most of the shooting victims matched the suspects’ rifle.

Then Moose proceeded to read the names of each victim who was linked to the weapon found. This was a great time killer. Shortly thereafter, Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan read the names of ALL victims, as a way of paying his "respects." More time killing. These guys burned up quite a bit of time reading and re-reading the victims’ names, playing on the public’s emotions, but supplying little information of value.

It was a sickening spectacle.

Muhammad and Malvo were reportedly traveling in a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice when they were arrested. The vehicle was reportedly modified to create a hole through which someone could lay in the back and shoot. The modification allowed access to the trunk from inside, sources said. (1)

With all this so-called evidence (murder weapon, ballistic matches, modifications to the car for shooting ease), why were Muhammad or Malvo not charged immediately with something related to the DC Sniper case?

Many other questions remain unanswered.

What happened to the white minivan?

Why did the Montgomery County Police Department call a press conference on Oct. 24, but refuse to answer any questions about the case?

In general, why are normal procedures regarding a criminal investigation and subsequent arrests not being followed?

The arrest of Muhammad and Malvo has all the earmarks of an intelligence operation.

Muhammad is a Persian Gulf war veteran and has an extensive military background. He served in Army National Guard of Louisiana (1978-1985) and in the regular Army (1985-present).

From what I’ve read, Muhammad has never left the military, yet he is described by the media as a veteran.

Muhammad’s Army career indicates a connection to chemical weapons and the disposal of toxic chemicals. During his military service, he was stationed exclusively at Army bases that specialized in those areas.

The Washington Post stated that Muhammad was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Fort Lewis, Wash., Fort Ord, Calif., and other places. (2)

Fort Leonard Wood Army base, in Missouri, has a chemical weapons school which has the following mission statement on its webpage:

Develop doctrine, equipment and training for NBC defense which serve as a deterrent to ANY adversary possessing weapons of mass destruction. Provide the Army with the combat multipliers of smoke, obscurant, and flame capabilities. (3)

Fort Ord Army base, in California, has a program called The Defense Environmental Response Task Force (DERTF) which is run under the auspices of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). One of the functions of DERTF is to dispose of toxic chemicals apparently used in chemical weapons training/development. (4)

Fort Lewis Army base, in Washington, has a permit, issued by the EPA, to manage a sewage treatment plant which includes the disposal of toxic chemicals under the guidelines of the Toxic Substances Control Act which became law in 1976. (5)

Why have the police refused to comment about motive? The news media certainly has no problem telling citizens what the motive was.

The Washington Times stated that Muhammad was a devotee of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakan and was part of the security force at the Million Man March in Washington, DC in 1995.

This sort of unsubstantiated anti-Islam rhetoric will only help the war effort against Iraq.

It is obvious that our government plans to wage war against Iraq no matter what.

If I am correct that the recent arrest of the DC Snipers is an intelligence operation, then Muhammad’s Army handlers at three chemical warfare/disposal bases (Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Lewis, and Fort Ord) may very well be planning a chemical attack on Americans.

This would not be the first time such a treacherous action occurred in the United States. The Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor (Dec. 7, 1941) has been shown by historians to be a ruse perpetrated by President Roosevelt to get America into the European war against Nazi Germany. Author Robert B. Stinnett built a powerful case in his book, Day of Deceit, that Roosevelt had prior knowledge of the attack—which killed 2,400 military persons and wounded 1,100 more—and allowed it to happen, even encouraged it. Given that Roosevelt’s top adviser, Bernard Baruch, was an ardent Zionist, Stinnett’s explanation seems highly plausible.

In 1999, the US Senate voted to exonerate Hawaii commanders Admiral Husband E. Kimmel and Lieutenant General Walter Short for lack of preparedness after the Pentagon declared that blame should be "broadly shared."(7) Prior to Stinnett’s work, researchers concluded that the US Government did not crack Japanese military codes before December 7, 1941; however, Stinnett provided numerous cables of decryptions to refute that claim. He also proved that a Japanese spy in Hawaii had transmitted information—including a map of the bombing target—beginning on August 21, 1941, and that American intelligence knew about it. In a word, Stinnett proved how Roosevelt allowed the attack to occur.

Prior to the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt was under heavy political pressure not to get the United States involved in military action against Germany. In 1940 and 1941, the America First Committee—led by Senator Gerald P. Nye—conducted Senate hearings which openly questioned the Zionist movement. Members of the Committee even accused Jewish movie moguls in Hollywood of stirring up war fever in various movie productions. Though failing in its campaigns to block the Lend-Lease Act, the use of the U.S. Navy for convoys, and the repeal of the Neutrality Act, its public pressure undoubtedly discouraged greater direct military aid to a Great Britain besieged by Nazi Germany. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor (Dec. 7, 1941), the committee dissolved and urged its members to support the war effort. (8)

I expect many of the leading critics of the pending war with Iraq will pledge full loyalty to the war effort if a faked attack is launched against Americans by the US government.

I pray that my prophesy does not come to pass.

US Military chemical attack on Americans seems likely

On Tuesday, November 12, 2002, NBC Evening News ran a story about how Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri (Army facility) is training Army personnel in preparation for chemical attacks.

What NBC neglected to tell its viewers is that Fort Leonard Wood is the former stomping ground of DC Sniper suspect John Allen Muhammad (aka, John Allen Williams).(1)

I have observed, in previous articles, that the sniper shootings in Washington, DC and surrounding areas was most likely an intelligence operation designed to make the American public feel terrorized. While this is frightening in human terms, it is an optimum scenario for military planners preparing to launch an attack against Iraq. What better way to garner public support for launching an unprovoked attack against a sovereign nation?

The fact that John Muhammad was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood does not mean that he personally is planning to launch a chemical weapons assault against the public. It points to a bigger conspiracy.

There is evidence that John Muhammad is a patsy of sorts. Whether he shot anyone at all remains to be seen, but his military record (as presented by the media) indicates that he was qualified to pull it off.

If Muhammad was involved in the sniper shootings, then he was likely part of a small army of snipers. At some point, it was decided that he would become the scapegoat.

If the sniper shootings was in fact an intelligence operation to frighten the public, then Muhammad’s military background might provide a window through which to view the conspirators. Muhammad’s handlers are likely stationed in his former Army bases, which are chemical weapons facilities.

The Washington Post reported that Muhammad was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Fort Lewis, Washington; and Fort Ord, California. (2) All of these Army bases are chemical weapons facilities.

Nov. 12 — Iraq may be trying to stock up on an antidote to a form of nerve gas, in preparation for using nerve agents on U.S. troops in a military conflict. NBC News has a rare look inside the Army training camp for U.S. soldiers who may be the targets of such an attack.

THEY CALL THEMSELVES chemical soldiers and their motto is, "We’ve got the nerve." They need it. They’re about to be exposed to the most deadly nerve agents in the world — the same kind of chemical weapons they could face in a war with Iraq.

At Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., the U.S. Army trains its troops on how to survive a chemical attack. The classroom is a tightly-sealed gas chamber. Instructors, looking like the grim reaper, carefully dispense VX and sarin nerve agent, so lethal that a single drop could kill every one one of the troops within three minutes.

"Our job is to give them the gut level confidence that their equipment and their procedures will work to protect them against these very deadly nerve agents," says John Morrisey, deputy director of U.S. Army chemical defense training.

Training begins with the first of three blood tests, then a whiff of a non-toxic agent to test physical reactions. The gas mask is a critical fit — it stands between you and an agonizing death that could include sever muscular twitching, loss of bladder control, convulsions, and stoppage of breathing.

But the charcoal-lined protective suits are bulky, hard to work in, and hot, making it almost impossible to fight in the scorching heat of the Iraqi desert.

"It takes a lot more energy once you are inside that suit to actually do your mission," says Staff Sgt. Daniel Myers.

One last check of the protective gear, and the group is headed for the hot zone.

Once inside, they run through a series of drills, using litmus paper to identify which deadly agent they’re dealing with.

Troops practice injecting a dummy with atropine, an antidote for nerve agent. It’s the same antidote Saddam Hussein is trying to buy from Turkey, in more than a million doses. But there’s a close call. One trainee almost injects himself. A punctured glove would expose him to nerve agent, and send him to the hospital.

It’s called the fear factor. Working so closely with such deadly agents can make your mind go blank. On the battlefield, it could produce chaos and panic.

"My personal concern is for the unknown," says Anna Johnson-Winegar, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for chemical and biological defense.

When and how the chemical or biological agent will be delivered, and which one will it be? After being exposed to VX and sarin nerve gas in the exercise, the trickiest, and perhaps most dangerous part is trying to get out of the hot zone cleanly.

Trainees cautiously undress each other, careful not to contaminate exposed skin.

The mask is the last to go, before a series of showers.

Under these tightly-controlled conditions, it all went well. But if Saddam Hussein unleashes chemical weapons, it’s certain that not everyone will walk away.
